HASTINGS WORK

Dalvui Shows Fitness “The Press" Special Service HASTINGS. Dalvui, which has thrived since his trip north, showed fitness for the Manawatu Mile tomorrow, when he galloped easily over six furlongs on the plough at Hastings yesterday morning. Dalvui was hampered by the shifting ground in the Easter Handicap at Ellersille and was never a prospect. On firmer ground at Awapuni he could be a much stronger prospect. Otherwise ran a sound gallop over seven furlongs and showed his readiness for the Adderstone Handicap. High Disdain also galloped well but was not timed. On the course proper, with the trestles out about 10ft, the going was fast. The plough was also in perfect order. On the plough Dalvui (Cullen) went alone over six furlongs In 1:22 45, the last five furlongs In 1:8 2-5, and the last three furlongs in 40sec. Grisbi (Whittington), one of several Hawke's Bay runners in the Adderstone Handicap, ran seven furlongs in 1:37, the last three taking 40 l-ssec. He is in hard condition.

False Problem (Lawson) pleased by running a mile in 1:43, the last six in 1:17. This was a bold work-out. Otherwise (Marsh) hit out freely for seven furlongs. He took 1:33 4-5, the last three In 40 4-ssec. Ima Martian (Grantham) and Goldenise (Marsh) ran half a mile in 50 4-ssec, the last three taking 39 l-ssec. Ima Martian is holding hia condition well.
