Banding Of Wool Bales
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Mar. 28. An Auckland company planned to begin experimenting next month with an improved method of handling wool for export, the manag-ing-director, Mr D. J. Davis, said today. The method involved the banding together of six, nine, and even 12 double bales so that they could be handled as units. He said the technique was not new, but it had not yet been used in New Zealand. The machine, expected to be ready within a few weeks, would exert a pressure of 500 tons on the wool, compared with 80 tons by present presses here.
No Budget Date. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) said yesterday that no date for the 1967 Budget had been set yet. Last year’s Budget was read on June 16.—(P.A.)
