No Pension For Woman
(Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, Mar. 28. After 26 years’ service with British Railways, a Birmingham ticket collector cannot get a pension on her retirement because she is classified as a “temporary employee.” “It’s a long time to be temporary.” said Mrs Lilian Brown, aged 65. yesterday. “I thought I’d been on the permanent staff for a few years.” A spokesman for British Railways said women were not employed as “permanent staff” ticket collectors.
