Soccer Clubs May Forfeit Points

Two first division soccer clubs, Shamrock and High School Old Boys, could be liable to lose any competition points they may gain on Saturday unless they had paid at least a third of their registration fees before Saturday, said the treasurer of the Canterbury Football Association (Mr N. R. Dixon), at a meeting of the management committee last evening. “Our constitution has been severely bent in the past,” said Mr F. Forde. “This would be a good time to show clubs that we run football in Canterbury.” The president (Mr J. Smith) said that the association could not impose a fine on the clubs but they could be barred from the competition. Unregistered players would not be permitted to Play. Mr R. Storer said that the association had given the offending clubs ample time to pay the fees. The seven-day extension had now expired. Mr Dixon said that unfortunately there was nothing in the constitution that stated specifically that clubs had to pay their fees in full until October. He suggested that the constitution be amended for next season. Under-14 Game.— it was decided, by a 5-4 vote, to hold the under-14 North v. South fixture as the curtain-raiser at English Park on May 13 instead of as the main game. The fixture is likely to alternate between Christchurch and Wellington, and in future the match may be held in a different age group. It is hoped that the Canter-

bury coach (Mr R. C. Carter) will coach the South Island team.

Teams Withdrawn. Mr Storer reported that many teams had withdrawn from the competitions and he had been put to considerable inconvenience redrawing some grades. Selectors.—A letter was sent to the New Zealand Foofball Association expressing concern that only one of the national selectors had attended the national under-23 trial match at Huntly at Easter. The only one of the three selectors who had attended (Mr D. Wallace. Auckland) was not there in his official capacity. Chatham Cup.— For the first time for many years the Ashburton club has entered a team in the Chatham Cup Anzac Day.—The association was advised that it may play football after 1 p.m. on Anzac Day, April 25. There is a possibility that a representative match will be played at English Park on that date.
