Another Win By Alcorn
The outstanding Canterbury long distance runner, R. Alcorn, won the first Teddington to Diamond Harbour road race yesterday. The seven-mi le event, organised by the Diamond Harbour Burgesses’ Association in collaboration with the Road Racers’ Association, attracted 20 starters. The race will be held annually, with the J. B. Hughes Challenge Cup as the prize. After yesterday’s race, the cup was presented to Alcorn by the mayor of Lyttelton (Mr J. B. Collett). The result was:— R. Alcorn (Methodist), 39min 16sec, 1: G. Clarke (Olympic), 39min 24sec, 2; A. Evans (Technical), 40min Msec, 3.
French Win.—France defeated Italy, 60-13, tn a Rugby Union test on Sunday. The half-time score was 34-3.
