NATIONAL MATTER

Dispute At Bluff (N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, March 27. The Bluff bulk wheathandling dispute is now being discussed at a national level. The dispute is between the Bluff Waterfront Workers’ Union and the Southland branch of the New Zealand Harbour Board Employees’ Union, over the allocation of work in receiving wheat into the Southland Harbour Board’s new £30,000 installation. The watersiders have referred the dispute to the national executive of the Federation of Labour for immediate action, and there is a possibility that the federation will make a pronouncement by Thursday. The Harbour Board employees have referred the matter to their national executive. The board employees, and the Harbour Board, which has backed its employees strongly throughout the dispute, maintain that the dispute should be dealt with by the Port Conciliation Committee and the Waterfront Industry Tribunal.
