SLAUGHTER FIGURES
Sheep Killings Higher (N.Z. Press Association# WELLINGTON, March 26. Sheep and lamb killings for January were well above the figure recorded for the same period last year, reports the biometric section of the Department of Agriculture. In January thia year 4,367,000 lambs were slaughtered. This is an increase of 737,000 or 20 per cent on the previous year’s figure of 3,630,000. Sheep killings for the month of January showed an even greater increase, standing at 38 per cent higher than the total for the previous year.
Last year’s January total was 767,000. This year the figure was 1,136,000, an increase of 369,000.
