SHAND CUP GOLF
Hawke’s Bay Unbeaten (N.Z. Press Association) „ HAWERA. Hawke’s Bay convicingly won the Shand Cup golf tournament when it completed Its third win in three rounds, against Wellington, Taranaki and the holder of the trophy, ManawatuWanganui, at Hawera yesterday. Two rounds of the tournament were played on Saturday and the final round yesterday morning. With Its top man, S. G. Jones, in magnificent form throughout the three rounds, with 66, 68, 68, the rest of the Hawke's Bay players lifted their play and six members of the team went through the three rounds unbeaten. Results were: First Round.—Wellington 61, Taranaki 5; Hawke’s Bay 71, Manawatu-Wanganui 4}. Second Round.—Taranaki 6. Manawatu-Wanganui 6; Hawke’s Bay 7, Wellington 5. Third Round.—Hawke’s Bay 8. Taranaki 4; Manawatu-Wanganui 61, Wellington 51.
Palmer Fails To Qualify (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) JACKSONVILLE, Florida The Australian, B. Crampton, scoring 69, shared the honours with M. Randolph (United States) in the third round of the Jacksonville open golf tournament. But his total score of 215 after three rounds left him well behind the leader, D. Sikes (United States), on 206. Another American, G. Brewer, was second on 209, while deadlocked in third place were R. Goaiby and C. Courtney, 210. The South African player, G. Player, was down the list with 217, while A. Palmer failed to qualify for the final two rounds.
