DISPUTE ENDED
Ban Lifted At Awarua (N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, March 16. Industrial peace reigns at the Southland Cooperative Phosphate Company’s Awarua works for the first time in almost two months, and full production is under way. A number of men walked off the job after handing in their notice on Wednesday but all the others were at the works today to man the production and dispatch departments. Late in January, about 40 men walked out when their union leader, Mr J. A. Martin, was dismissed. The South Island Conciliation Commissioner earlier this week ruled that the dismissal was justified, but about 10 men walked out on Wednesday as a protest against another employee being dismissed. The majority of the men, however, reported for work yesterday, and a union meeting in the morning rescinded the black ban placed on the departments on Wednesday.
