Support For Leaders But Market Subdued
Although there was some support for leaders on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday, the New Zealand list was in balance and the overseas section retreated. Trading was subdued and the range below average.
B.H.P. gained another 3d, to reach again the year’s peak of 565. Cantwell Creations was Is dearer at 6s, in first sales for some time, and KaiapoiPetone recovered another 4d to 4s 4d. N.Z. Farmers Fertiliser, at
32s 3d, N.Z. Refrigerating deferred shares, at 10s, and N.Z. Refining, at 44s 9d, each rose 3d. Wright Stephenson sold Id higher to 13s sd.
Ballins lost 3d to 10s 3d, New Zealand Insurance, at 22s 9d, and J. Wattie Canneries, at 16s lOd, eased 2d each, and New Zealand Breweries lost Id to 12s 2d.
