Profit Rise Of 11.4 p.c. (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 16. S. A. Smith and Company, Ltd., Auckland, has raised the basic ordinary dividend for the year to January 31 from 10 per cent to 112/3 per cent by incorporating the 1 2/3 per cent anniversary bonus paid last year. A preliminary announcement shows a rise of 11.4 per cent in net profit to £20,332 after provision of £3592 more for tax at £2O-795.
The final dividend of 6 2/3 per cent is payable April 28, ex April 20. The company is to change its name to S. A. Smith-Bio-lab, Ltd., after the recent purchase of Biological Laboratories, Ltd., in a £75,000 share deal.
