Disturbances “Unwise” , “The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON, Mar. 15. New Zealand would be most unwise to try to disturb the fundamental pattern of marketing of lamb in the United Kingdom, said the chairman of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board, Sir John Ormond, today. “We are unfortunate that lack of enough early lambs prevented us from landing a larger volume of new season’s lamb in the United Kingdom for the start of this year. “The market today is good and is absorbing a large volume of our product, but at lower prices. I see no reason for pessimism and I believe that our major purpose must be to continue to develop our total production,” said Sir John Ormond.
“I want to put special emphasis on those early lambs. Climatic conditions are a dominant factor, of course, but it should be evident from recent experience that with the growth in the total number of lambs to be marketed we cannot afford to miss any of the good selling opportunities which are available to early iamb. “Nor can we afford to hold back lambs or produce too many of them late' for the United Kingdom market, which should receive the heavier percentage of our product in the first half of each calendar year. This is a fact which traders have appreciated for many years and modern circumstances do not change this basic requirement We should be most unwise to try to disturb the fundamental pattern of our marketing in Britain.**
