DISABLED SPORTS GROUP MAKING PROGRESS
'THE Canterbury Disabled Sports Association, founded last year under the patronage of the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr Manning), will have a year of consolidation and growing member- ' ship to review at its first -annual meeting tonight. 1 Its members have mainly • concentrated on archery and .* Indoor sports, including table tennis, bowls, darts and bil- ' liards. All have had a great following and the association has received unstinted - help in the way of equip- . ment and coaching by the «. various sports associations of J Canterbury.
The aims of the association are: to provide and foster competitive sport for the physically disabled within their capabilities; to provide repersenttaives in the New Zealand team at the Paraplegic Olympic Games, held immediately after the Olympic Games; and to enable disabled people to gain pleasure and exercise and to meet socially and find new interests.
