Peninsula Wins Shield The Banks Peninsula representative cricket team won the Sub-Associations’ Shield when rain ruined its match against Ashley, at Akaroa. The match wa s the last in the series, and Ashley had to beat Peninsula to win the shield. The home side had scored 90 for three wickets when plav stopped. and the match was declared a draw. Peninsula. 131 for 4 wickets declared (R. Watson 53 not out, P. Dunbier 39 not out; C. Moore 2 for 37) and 65 for threa wickets (J. Humphries 21 not out; M. Gibson 2 for 30) beat Hurunui, 127 (A. Tuck 30; R. Lanauz# 2 for 17, R. Inwood" 2 for 15; P. Dunbier 4 for 26) and 61 (Lanauze 4 for 40, Dunbier 4 for 17).
