Car Struck By Bullet
A bullet struck a car travelling on Johns road, near Wilkinsons road, about 4 p.m on Sunday. The right rear door was indented but the metal was not pierced. The car is a new one owned by Mrs G. Stewart, of Fendalton. In the rear seat were Mrs Stewart’s husband, a son, aged 18, and daughter, aged 15. Mrs Stewart said she had first thought the noise, when the car was struck, was caused by a stone, but when the dent was inspected it seemed to have been made by a bullet. The Stewarts asked at neighbouring houses to see if a rifle had been discharged accidently, but they were told the residents were also troubled by people with rifles. The police are inquiring into the incident.
