HASTINGS. Lucky Bebel and Ta Vince were impressive at Hastings on Sunday In their final trial for the P. F. Wall Memorial at Waipukurau today. They covered a mile in good time. The two-year-olds Miss Mink and Dean Hagen sprinted boldly over hslf a mile on the course proper, and Karachi, another two-year-old, indicated his fitness.
Most of the fast work was on the course proper, which was in good order after heavy overnight rain. Travelling Light worked eaally over three furlongs on the plough in 42sec. He is fit for the Ruatanlwha Jumpers' Flat. Miss Mink (R. Grantham), Dean Hagen (M. Donoghue) and Clap Hands (R. Drummond) sprinted boldly over half a mile In 49 3-ssec, the last three in 37 4-ssec. Miss Mink and Dean Hagen were clear at the finish. Dean Hagen may be one of the hardest to beat in the First Pukeora Handicap.
Karachi, which will run in the Second Pukeora Handicap, was going easily at the finish of his three furlongs with Merryalre in 37 2-ssec. Karachi races in the same colours as Tarjen and Tangelo. Lucky Rebel (B. Grantham) and Ta Vince (B. Cullen) started from the mile. Shady (Miss Wrigley) joined them at the six furlongs. They esme from there in Imin lOsec, the last three in 39 2-ssec. All three were travelling well at the finish, especially Ta Vince, which Is close to winning form. Lucky Rebel and Ta Vince covered the full distance in Imin 42sec. Chav (R. Bevins) and Wynaffected (R. Hastings) were well matched' over five furlongs in Imin 4 3-ssec, the last three in 39 2-3 sec.
