SEARCHERS THANKED
Scarborough Drownings v The Sumner lifeboat crew, the search-and-rescue team, the police, and members of the public who took part in the search for Bernard David Horgan and Michael O’Connor,' the theological students who lost their lives near Scarborough on Thursday, have been thanked for their efforts by . the students’ parents. In a joint letter, Mr and Mrs B. D. Horgan, of Spreydon, and Mr and Mrs M. P. O’Connor, of Auckland, say they wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to those who helped in the search. “Their outstanding devotion and selflessness are an inspiration to us all," the letter says. “So often we hear publicly of the sensational and so little of work such as this. “We parents and families will never forget what you have done for us," it says. The two students who were saved, John van Gessel and Phillip Gibbs, join the two families in thanking those concerned.
The police continued to search yesterday for Mir Horgan’s body.
