Creditors’ Meeting

The liquidation of the Credit Union of Canterbury Society, Ltd., was a reason for his going bankrupt, Maurice Herbert James Williams, a labourer, of 79 Geraldine street, told a meeting of his creditors yesterday. The Official Assignee (Mr T. A. F. Withers), who had called the meeting, said Williams had been adjudged bankrupt on March 2, 1967.

A statement of Williams’s financial position showed he had unsecured debts amounting to £337 Is 9d. His total assets—estimated realisations on book debts—amounted to £33 6s fid, which revealed a deficiency of £304 5s 3d Williams said that on his present wage he found it very hard to stop his creditors from taking him to Court and the worry had affected his health.

In answer to a question he said he intended to make payment of the money owing to the creditors.

The meeting decided that any application from Williams for a discharge from his bankruptcy should be opposed till he had paid 10s in the £.
