Good Supply Of Vegetables

There was a good supply of salad and cooking vegetables at Christchurch produce markets yesterday. The offering, which was of good and varied quality, met with a fair demand.

Wet Weather at the weekend caused a drop in the supply of fruit from Central Otago and Nelson. However, it is expected that the supply will be back to normal soon.

Cabbages, to 9s a sack; cauliflowers, to 14s a case; onions, to 20s a sugar bag, sprouts, to 38s a case; swedes, to 12s fid a sugar bag; potatoes, 8s to 14s a sugar bag; kumeras, to 40s a case; spring onions, to 7s W a doz.; radishes, to 4s a doz.; parsley, to 4d a bunch; lettuces, best 6s to 9s a doz. Leeks, to 15s fid a case; celery, white, to 16s a doz., Utah, to 18s a doz.; french beans to 6s a box; butter beans, to 8s a box; stringless beans, to 32s a case; runner beans, to 16s a box; spinach, to us a case; cucumbers, to 20s a case; sweet corn, to 6s 6d a tray; rhubarb, to 10s a case; butternut pumpkins, to 15s a case.
