Count Maurice de Bendern yesterday reported the disappearance of the famous painting “Flute Player,” by Franz Hals, which is estimated to be worth about £125,500. Just before the paintings were to be removed from the bank a few weeks ago, their wrappings were removed and it was found that- a worthless object had been substituted for the Franz Hals. Count Bendern said he immediately Informed the Swiss police of the disappearance. The police asked him to keep the matter secret while they investigated.
