POPE WARNS NUNS
Modernising Dress (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—<Copyright) VATICAN CITY, Marc* 8.
Pope Paul yesterday warned nuns against going to extremes in modernising their attire. Speaking to the superiors of 2200 religious orders for women at an audience, the Pope said: “Modifications are without doubt necessary.
"But one must take care not to go from one extreme to the other.
“The religious habit for its simplicity and its modesty should remain always, according to the long tradition of the Church, the visible sign, recognisable by all, of the state of life embraced by the consecrated virgin.”
