ANGLICAN EDUCATION
New Director Appointed
The Rev. J. M. Mullane, of the parish of Clevedon, Auckland, has been appointed Director of Christian Education in the Diocese of Christchurch, and will take up his appointment in July. Mr Mullane was ordained in Auckland in 1958. He attended St. John College and gained his M.A. with honours in mathematics at the University of Auckland, and firstclass honours in the licentiate of theology of the New Zealand Board of Theological Studies.
After serving a curacy at New Lynn he returned to St. John’s College as acting-tutor for two years. He has been in his present position for the last three years.
As a member of the Adult Council of the Auckland Diocesan Board of Christian Education, Mr Mullane was involved in the writing of the two Lent Studies, “Family Affair” and “Cost of Living,” both of which have been widely used throughout New Zealand by churches of many different denominations. In 1960 he attended a course on pastoral care in Melbourne. He is a member of the St. John’s College board of governors and of the editorial board of the “New Zealand Theological Review.” He has shown great interest in church union negotiations and in prayer book revision, being a member of the Auckland diocesan committee concerned with these matters.
