More Children In Home
The record admission figures set at the Cholmondeley Memorial Children’s Home were an indication that there had been an Increase in cases resulting from the illness of a mother, the president of the home (Mr C. L. Paterson), says in his annual report. Bearing in mind the emergency nature of the work it also showed that the Dome was being used frequently. Throughout the year there was a consistently large number of children in the home.
During the year 227 children stayed at the home—an increase of 14 on 1965 and 32 on 1964. Of these 145 stayed at the home because their mothers Were ill. In 1965, 117 children stayed at the home for the same reason. Other reasons for which children were cared for were the illness of the child, emergency or environmental causes, or that the mother was in a maternity hospital.
