Spotswood Trotting
Sir,—l am sure I speak for many readers when I say how enjoyable the Spotswood Trotting Club’s matinee meeting was last Saturday. The fields and track were good; the latter especially, as evidenced by the track record of 3min I.ssec, and there was a good attendance of people both from the surrounding area and Christchurch. The races were run on time. I understand the equalisator handled £1587. An increase of £427 on the £1166 received for the corresponding meeting last year, an unsurprising fact in the light of the pleasantly informal air at the meeting. Everyone appeared to know everyone else and it was a very friendly country meeting, and, if I may say so, even more enjoyable than the “cityfled” meetings held nearer Christchurch.—Yours, etc, THE COLONEL. March 8, 1967.
