TARIM FIT

“The Press” Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH.

Tarim worked well for his engagement in the Napier Park Gold Cup on Saturday when he recorded a solid mile gallop at Awapuni yesterday 'morning. The Targui gelding is Ln great order following his success at Hawera last time out and should be hard to beat again on Saturday. Little fast work took place at the centre this morning. The plough was in great order, but times were naturally slower. Tarim started off at the mile, and completed the distance in Imin 47sec, being joined by Both Ways over the last five in Imin 4sec. They came over the final three in 39sec.

Jovial Summer sprinted three furlongs in 39sec without being asked for a real effort. Gold Mint, which is rather burly after a short spell, went over half a mile in 52sec and was not pushed out over the final three in 39sec.

Janess beat Banagh by a length at the end of half a mile in 50 2-ssec, taking only 38sec for the final three furlongs. On Saturday Janess will be having only her second start in the Novice Stakes at the Napier Park meeting. Silver Sabre and Moka made fast time for five furlongs on the inside trial. They recorded Imin 2 3-ssec for their task, finishing together over the last three in 37 3-ssec.

Balyn, which will be well supported in the Greeenmeadows Handicap on Saturday, galloped stylishly over six furlongs. She took Imin 4 2-Ssec for the final five furlongs and was not asked for her best over the last three in 39 2-sseo. .
