“Cuts Will Be Spread”

<H.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Feb. 28. The cuts being imposed in Government spending would be spread evenly through the country, said the acting Minister of Finance (Mr Muldoon) today when asked whether Auckland was taking the brunt “Spending will be reduced in other centres as well as in Auckland," he said. “Some projects that would have gone ahead had the cuts not been made will not now do so.”

He said that while Aucklanders already knew of delays to the international airport and downtown development projects through decreased expenditure, he could not be specific about how the cuts would affect other centres.

“I cannot be specific,” he said, “because the Go vernment has not yet d'tailed its expenditure for the year.”
