“Too Much Soccer”
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. “Too many Auckland batsmen were content to play soccer with the ball instead of hitting it” said the Australian cricket captain, L. E. Favell, after his side’s 10-wicket win at Eden Park. “Of the four teams we’ve played, Auckland was least prepared to get out and slam the ball,” said Favell. “Too many batsmen were content to pad it away—that only leads 'to trouble, not to runs.”
