INSURANCE INSTITUTE
The Canterbury branch of the Insurance Institute of New Zealand had 513 members at the end of the year compared with 486. the previous year, the branch was told at its annual meeting yesterday. In addition, the subdistrict of Nelson had 82 members, Blenheim had 32, and Timaru had 53. The following officers were elected: — „ . Chairman, Mr C. A. b. Lowe: vice-president, Mr J. K. Roberts: immediate past chairman, Mr C. S. Clark; secretary, Mr R. L. Coak; treasurer, Mr P. A. Farrin; committee, Messrs J. P. Elderton, D. K. Kelleher, I. J. Lawson, R. D. Smith, K. W. Stacey, W. H. Teape, and G. L. Webster.
Record Fe«._ Blackpool's 18-year-old left-back, E. Hughes, has signed for Liverpool for a fee believed to be £60,000 a record for a full-back in British soccer.
