Aid For Vietnam
Sir,—Mr Holyoake has today announced that New Zealand will probably increase its military involvement in Vietnam. This in- . creased military commitment is, no doubt, one of the “conditions” attached to the I latest I.M.F. loan offer for
this near-bankrupt country of ours. In today’s news also is a report that France is forming an “international brigade” to fight alongside the Viet Cong, and that this brigade would include British volunteers. The dreadful prospect now emerges that we may have Kiwis and Britons killing each other in Vietnam, all because of the irresponsible policies of our present Government who have “sold us up the river” in their frantic endeavours for a temporary solvency dependent on the American dollar. To prevent this prospect becoming an actuality, the Labour Party and all humanitarian organisations must force Mr Holyoake to obtain a vote of confidence.—Yours, etc., BUTTER BEFORE BOMBS. February 20, 1967. [The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) has declined to comment.]
