Farm Workers

Sir,—Mr Morris and Dr. Cant state that in only three instances was overtime paid, but do not say how many farms were included in the survey. I assume that these three were a very small percentage of the total. If more farmers paid overtime it would attract more men on to the farms and retain those already on them. If a man is paid overtime he will be keen to work overtime and will work more efficiently knowing that he will be rewarded for every hour worked, whereas a man receiving a bonus never knows how much he will receive at the end of the year or whether he has been working for charity.—Yours, etc., FARMER’S BOY.
