Ferrymead

Sir, —Along with a lot more people in Heathcote, I agree with M. Brown. If the Ferrymead enthusiasts want to build a trust park at Ferrymead, make it a park. Plant it in trees and flowers, build a swimming pool and a playground, but don’t fill it up with junk. On another page you have an article on the control of noise. What will the noise be from Ferrymead, with old engines and trams running around all day and the drivers blowing the steam whistles for fun? Does Mr Betts live near the park? If he does I hope he enjoys it. If there is too much noise, I shall organise a protest throughout Heathcote valley to have it stopped. If they have £50,000 to spend don’t go loco with it.—Yours, etc., THE VALLEY. February 27, 1967.
