N.Z. Fire Brigades Assn. Officers
(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, Feb. 27. Fireman A. J. Buckland of Titirangi was elected yesterday as president of the United Fire Brigades Association of New Zealand at the annual conference being held in Greymouth. The immediate past president is Deputy Chief Officer R. C. S. Bush of Blenheim. Senior vice-president is Chief Fire Officer A. G. Downey of Matamata and the junior vicepresident is Chief Fire Officer H. S. Oliver of Nelson. Officers. Secretary-treas-urer, Secretary E. F. Quinland of Te Awamutu; Fire Service Council representative, Ex-Chief Fire Officer N. G. Buick of Palmerston North. The new officers will be officially installed on Wednesday, the last day of the conference. Remits Considered A Press Association message from Greymouth says that a remit from the Taupo Fire Brigade for the executive to consider ways of enrolment by fire brigades of members of the Fire Police as associate members of the U.F.8.A., was lost. The Tapanui Fire Brigade's remit to investigate all ways of reducing amounts paid on station telephones, especially in secondary fire districts, was passed. - The conference also decided on an Otematata Fire Brigade remit to form a panel of three experienced championship firemen to answer queries on rulings at national competitions.
