LEAGUE BOARD’S NOMINATIONS

Three sitting officials will be nominated by the Canterbury Rugby League for the annual meeting of the Hew Zealand Council in April. Last evening’s meeting of the board of control decided to forward the following: president, Dr. L. Cooney; secretary, Mr C. R. Mountford; treasurer, Mr J. E. Knowling. Two prospective remits for the annual meeting from the Marlst club did not fare well, and only one section of one

remit will go out to the clubs for consideration. The club sought a method of choosing provincial selection panels whereby the club's for ward nominations and vote, either by ballot or delegates, from them. The board conceded to a further suggestion that in the case where there is more than one selector on a provincial panel the board of control, wherever possible, shall appoint from among its members one person to the panel as convener with full voting powers. This section will be forwarded to the clubs. The Addington club also submitted a proposal similar to that from the Marist club, and it failed to gain approval from the board. A remit that the board of control and delegates from each club meet once a month as a full meeting was also rejected This also came from the Marist club. The Linwood club’s proposal for the annual meeting to be held before October each year also did not gain approval. The chairman (Mr D. C. Wilson) said that a further coaching school would be held at the show grounds on March 11.
