Accident Signs
A new accident warning sign, designed for the New Zealand Police which has j been undergoing trials since Christmas, will be distributed to all police districts. The warning sign stands about 6ft and is carried in the boot of a patrol car and can be erected in less than 20 seconds. Two red flashing lights alternate continuously and they are fixed at a height which makes them visible
above the roofs of following cars. It will be used for accident control police roadblocks, stop - command and civil emergencies. The Police Department has now bought 54 of the signs. The Commissioner of Police (Mr C. L. Spencer) said that the initial distribution would not be sufficient to meet all needs and further signs would have to be bought for the 16 police districts.
