Roller Skating Association
The 1966-67 season had been one of great achievement the president of the Christchurch Amateur Roller Skating Club (Mr W. P. Brown) said in his report at the club’s fourteenth annual meeting last week. The season had begun with the opening of the rollerdrome at Sockburn. This had been built in conjunction with the Paparua County Council, he said. This was a community project that really worked and, with the establishment cost almost covered, funds could now be ploughed back into the amenities to the benefit of the club and the community. Mr Brown said the rink was up to international standards —a fact recognised by the Roller Skating Association, which will hold four events of national importance in Christchurch this season. Congratulations were extended to Miss R. Alexander and G. Glover on their successful world tour with the New Zealand speed skating team. Officers elected were: patron, Mr M. A. Connolly, M.P.; president, Mr W. P. Brown; vicepresident, Mr M. F. Alexander; secretary, Mr P. Brown, teasurer, Mrs E. Treloar; committe, Messrs J. and D. Seddon, G. Glover, G. Smith, B. Singer, K. Ward, P. Bastion and S. Walters, Mesdames L. Alexander, B. Singer, J. Smith and A. Page.
