MEMBERSHIP INCREASE
Youth Hostels Association Senior membership in the North Canterbury branch of the Youth Hostels Association has increased by 167 in the last year to 755, says the annual report. Work on the Cora Wilding Youth Hostel was completed and with this further accommodation the number of persons who stayed a night in hostels throughout Canterbury increased by 5303 to 10,413. At the annual meeting the following officers were elected: branch chairman, Mr A. Rutland; deputy president, Mr W. C. Harris; honorary vice-presidents, Messrs J. L. McKie, B. T. Cocks; secretary, Miss B. Cook; treasurer, Miss I. Gilmour; newsletter editor, Mr G. Howden.
