Burnside scored 293 on its home wicket against Merivale when the ninth round of the Suburban Cricket Association’s competitions began on Saturday in perfect conditions.

Four Burnside batsmen scored more than 40, with B. Wright topping the list. At Sumner on a good wicket and fast outfield only C. Henderson of the home side looked at all comfortable against the steady Waltham attack, which was headed by S. Robinson, who took six wickets.
