Lower grade cricket matches in the Canterbury Cricket Association’s competitions played on Saturday resulted:— SECOND GRADE A St. Albans 263 (R. Nicol-1 60, G. Nicoll 48; Harliwich 4/55, Thompson 3/45)) beat Sydenham 208 and 158/7 (Thomas 69; Harwood 5/46) on the first innings. SECOND GRADE B West-University 315/9 declared (Ryde 121 not out, Brown 47, Sugden 32, Turner 30; Victor 5/94) beat Old Boys 162 (Wilkinson 59, Brown 33) and 108 (Shipley 42; Bain 3/15, Turner 3/23) by an innings and 45 runs. Qld Collegians 254 (Harman 96, Kissding 49; Ryan 6/103, Noonan 3/73) and 132/5 (Harman 53, Kissling 48; Guthrie 3/22) beat Marist 175/9 declared and 205/6 declared (Eathorne 51, Stewart 45; Kissiing 4/55) by five wickets. Lancaster Park 148/5 declared (Wickes 30) and 94/3 Kennedy 34, Burdon 31) beat St. AlbansTeachers’ College 98 and 141 (Arneson 48; Higginson 8/71) by seven wickets. Hagley Old Boys 156 (Ellis 61, Corbin 46; Bryce 5/72, McAlpine 4/61) and 171/5 (Giblin 43 not out, Brown 33; Bryce 3/77) beat Burnside 246 and 72/7 declared (Bennetts 3/13), by five wickets. SECOND GRADE C East-Shirley 183 (Ryder 39; Williams 3/14) and 122/4 (Haase 31 not out, Ashdowne 30) beat Shirley Boys’ High School 138 and 158/6 declared (Rutherford 89, Nanfcies 36) by six wickets. St. Bede’s 298 (Scarlett 112, Rosevear 48, Murdoch 41; Smith 3/47) beat Linwood High School 210, on the first innings. Lancaster Park 177/8 declared (Hands 45) and 104/6 beat St. Albans 127 (Cutfcs 36; Barrington 4/44) and 149/5 declared (Penlington 54, Crimp 49 not out), by four wickets.

SECOND GRADE D Riccarton 86 and 137/6 declared beat St. Andrew’s 49 and 124 (Smith 45; McKenzie 6/16, Kelly 4/57), outright. Old Collegians 121 (Fallon 5/39) and 145/5 (Congill 45; Fraser 3/42) beat Xavier 117 and 142/6 declared (Cox 52 not out, Richards 30; Banks 4/36) by five wickets. PRESIDENTS GRADE West-University A 221/5 declared (Patchett 95, Kirk 59) drew with Riccarton 169/6 (Dawson 96, Owen 32; Brown 3/22). St. Albans 128/1 (Knowles 73 not out, Little 37 not out) beat Old Boys 113 (Arblaster 4/23, Mulcock 4/41) on the first innings. Lancaster Park 135/1 (Hills 57 not out, Singleton 43, Withers 33 not out) beat East-Shirley 130. (Gearry 3/11, Dryden 3/11) on the first innings. Sydenham 197/7 (Kemp 102, Wilson 49; Brydone 5/60) beat West-University B 195 (Thompson 81; Kellen 4/26, Coulter 4/51) op the first innings. Marist 143/8 (Hailes 34, McGlinchy 33 not out; Peers 5/47) beat Old Collegians 138 (Adams 66, Morton 33; Hailes 7/59, Connolly 3/26) on the first innings. THIRD GRADE A Old Boys 208 and 57/0 beat Sydenham 96 (Patterson 5/32, Anderson 5/50) and 164 (Walker 64, Hartley 34 not out, Knight 34; Patterson 6/48, Mais ter 3/41) by 10 wickets. Old Collegians 313 (Middleton 92) and 62/6 (Gresson 37 not out; Dudley 3/22) beat Lancaster Park 187 and 213 (Dudley 47, Hendon 41; Lovell-Smith 4/74, Agar 3/62) on the first innings. St. Albans 254 (McKechie 71 not out, Cox 64, Read 49, McWatt 45) beat Riccarton 136 (Richards 42, Rothwell 33) and 89 (Cox 3/16) by an innings and 29 runs. THIRD GRADE B Marist A 94 (Cowper 7/50) beat St. Albans 58 (Christie 3/19) and 24 (Hooper 3/19, including hat-trick) by an innings and 12 runs.

Hagley Old Boys A 185/9 declared (Young 35; Neilson 4/48) beat Lancaster Park C 88 (Grammer 6/32) on the first innings. Lancaster Park 205/6 declared (Duane 54, McCabe 53, Partington 47) drew with West-Uni-versity 129/4 (Kerr 46 not out). East-Shirley 202/8 declared (Iggo 57 not out, Simon 55, Leask 37; Walklin 3/38) drew with Lancaster Park A 150/7 (Walklin 44, Ford 37, Baker 30 not out).
