Safety Belts ‘Compulsory’

The fitting of safety belts to the front seats of motor cars will become compulsory in Australia within 12 months.
A meeting of Commonwealth and State Transport Ministers in Canberra today decided to recommend this to the State Governments. Seat belts will also be compulsory in all other seats within three years.
