Robin Dundee Thriving

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) PERTH. The New Zealand mare, Robin Dundee, has thrived since her placed run in the Inter-

Dominion championship heats on Wednesday night. The diminutive pacer finished second from 36 yards behind to the 50/1 chance, Goulburn View, in 2min s|sec. She scored five points.

Tomorrow night Robin Dundee will meet such pacers as Bon Adios (a winner on Wednesday night). Minuteman, Tongue Twister and Paul Nelson.

With five points, Robin Dundee is assured of a start in the final, but she should earn more points on Saturday night because the distance is 14 furlongs and 156 yards, and she is every inch a stayer.

Another New Zealander, Waitaki Hanover, has done well since Wednesday. The gelding was given light jogging work yesterday and his trainer, A. Bourne, and reinsman, D. Towley, are happy with the gelding’s condition. Waitaki Hanover needed the run on Wednesday. He was off his feed for a couple of days and this took the edge off him, according to Bourne. Waitaki Hanover could be a danger in the final, for which he is at 10/1.

Rocky Star, which was fifth on Wednesday, may go better over a longer journey. Rocky Star was given some logging work yesterday. His trainer, I. Schwamm, was not disappointed with the gelding’s run on Wednesday night. The series started in sensational fashion with a smash in the opening heat. Four of the 12 runners failed to complete the course.

The first winning points in the championship were gained by the South Australian Bon Adlos, which overcame an early

check and finished brilliantly to beat the Western Australian horses Bin Oro and Paul Nelson.
