Gold Chick Picked In A.R.C. Handicap

"The Press” Special Service

AUCKLAND.

The Takanini gelding, Gold Chick, has a further opportunity to add another big Ellerslie handicap to his record in the £lBOO Auckland Racing Club Handicap, the first leg of the T.A.B. double today.

Gold Chick has already won two Mitchelson Cups and shared the honours with Geyser Land in another, a Dominion Handicap and a Spring Handicap, at Ellerslie.

Gold Chick is the top-weight today with 8-6—2 lb less than one of his main rivals, Creolian. Garden Place (7-11), Hi Value (7-4), Blue Lodge (7-13) and Red Fllou (7-5) are also certain to give him tough opposition.

Count Two, Merry Men, Bottle Top and Dantana appear the best prospects in the second leg of the T.A.B. douMe, the Broadway Handicap, six furlongs. Count Two, at his last start, finished eighth over a mile in intermediate class at Ellerslie. The time before, against a much stronger field than he meets today, he was a close second to three-year-old Kastrup in the A.R.C. Electric Handicap. The weather has been fine and the track will offer fast footing.
