TACKS ON DRIVEWAY

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 24. A youth who scattered, about 300 tacks on the driveway of a traffic officer was given 18 months’ probation by Mr A. A. Coates, S.M., when he appeared today folsentence.

Douglas Foy, aged 17, an apprentice fitter, had previously pleaded guilty to a charge of wilfully damaging two car tyres valued at £3l 17s.

The Magistrate said that the only reason he was not sentencing Foy to periodic detention was a medical report on him. He ordered him to pay £3l 17s by way of restitution.
