NAMING OF WRITERS
Policy In ‘The Times’
(N.Z.P.A. -Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, Jan. 24.
"The Times” will head news stories with by-lines this week.
The change comes little more than a week after the appointment of Mr William Rees-Mogg as editor of the paper, which was bought by Lord Thomson late last year. By tradition, with the exception of signed articles by outside contributors, the writing staff of “The Times” have always been anonymous. In lay-out changes last June, “The Times” printed news on its front page instead of classified advertisements.
