Institute’s New Post (N.Z. Press Association) I INVERCARGILL, Jan. 22. ; i So that teachers can play a [proper professional role in curriculum development and the planning of new syllabuses, the Educational Institute has appointed its first curriculum officer. Mr P. D. K. Ramsay will join the institute’s head office staff at Wellington next month to maintain liaison between teachers, their professional organisation, and the Education Department on all aspects of the planning and trial of new classroom work. Mr Ramsay, who is 27, was educated at New Plymouth Boys’ High School and the Palmerston North Teachers' College before studying at Victoria University. He has qualified as a bachelor of arts, holds a diploma in teaching, and last year completed his honours degree in education. Most of his teaching service has been at intermediate most recently at South Wellington. His special interests are gifted children and Maori educational problems.
