Eric Sykes As Director
Eric Sykes makes his debut as film director with “The Plank,” in which he stars with another British comedian. Tommy Cooper. “The Plank," described as “an exposition of the mechanical gag,” is a comedy without dialogue—it has sound effects, musical and otherwise. In preparing the screenplay for the film Sykes, who is very much a visual comedian, sets out to provide an entertainment without language barriers. His film, he believes, will be acceptable to any nationality.
