Rider Moving To Chch Next Season

Although the Commonwealth Games cyclist, D. A. Comparini, of Nelson, is not riding on the track this season, he plans to move to Christchurch for the coming road season. Comparini, the New Zealand junior individual pursuit champion and the country’s second fastest rider in this event, said he was taking a break from cycling when he war; in Christchurch at the week-end. He has ridden little since his return from Jamaica but wants to have a good road season in Canterbury. He hopes to follow this with a good track season in 1967-68 and to earn selection for the Mexico Olympics in the pursuit and in the 100 kilos teams’ time trial.

Comparini’s absence this season will leave T. J. Tabak

(Canterbury) with an almost undisputed path to his defence of the New Zealand senior. title. These two are, apart from S. J. Stephen (Canterbury), who is still a junior, in a class of their own in New Zealand. Tabak and Comparini are the two Commonwealth Games riders summoned to a meeting of the national body’s council this evening to answer charges made in managerial reports from Jamaica.
