FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A ridge of high pressure covers the North Island. A slow-moving cold front lies across Southern New Zealand. Forecast: Canterbury.—Fresh to strong north-west winds, mainly cloudy warm weather, but rain about the western ranges. Marlborough.—Moderate to fresh north-west winds, strong in exposed places. Fine with high temperatures. Nelson.—Moderate northerly winds. Mainly cloudy, some showers about the western high i country. Moderate temperatures. Buller and North Westland.—Fresh north-west winds. Cloudy and mild with some rain. South Westland.—Fresh to strong northerlies. Overcast with further rain and thunderstorms. Moderate temperatures.
