Foster Homes
Sir, —Congratulations to the writer “Adopted.” He certainly hit the nail on the head in saying an overhaul of the Child Welfare Department is long overdue. As a mother of two adopted children, I have had dealings with the department, and found their methods of investigations arrogant, one-sided and unjust. Let the Child Welfare Department treat the public as human beings and with respect, for it is from here the future adoptive and foster parents are to come from. When this is done,: no doubt they will have many parents offering to take these children. But, while they! allow spinsters to come outand tell a mother of manyi years’ experience how to bring up her Children, and run the] home, then the Welfare Department can only expect' criticism and a lack of support from the public.—Yours,| etc., “TRAINED NURSE.” 1 January 23, 1967.
