BANK STOPS PAYMENTS
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, January 22. Davies Investments, a pri-vately-owned British banking concern, has suspended withdrawals by depositors. The company said in a statement that it was “unable to meet payments due now.”
The company has been in existence 14 years and has 5000 depositors. In its last statement, the bank was shown to have £8,000,000 on deposit from the public. “It is hoped we will arrange for a voluntary liquidation.' We believe there is a condition of solvency,” said the statement
