Portrait Prize
John Molvlg, a 43-year-old Brisbane painter, won the 1966 Archibald prize, Australia’s top award for portraits, the Sydney Art Gallery announced yesterday, reports the Press Association. Mr Molvig’s winning entry was a portrait of the Australian painter, Charles Blackman. The prize is worth about 1350 dollars. It is the first time Mr Molvig has won the prize.
Naval Exercise.—The frigate, H.M.N.Z.S. Blackpool, will dock in Bangkok tomorrow for a five-day operational visit after taking part in an exercise with Thai naval units in the Gulf of Thailand today. —Bangkok, January 20.
